The seller notes that the fuel gauge is not connected to the fuel cell. The Carfax report indicates that Not Actual Mileage titles were issued beginning in 2017. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 8k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. A Direct Connection controller to adjust the suspension and a trigger for the fire-suppression system are mounted to the left of the shifter.Ī two-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. Additional features include a roll cage, a driver-side window safety net, a locking glovebox, and black carpeting. The cabin features a red Sparco seat for the driver and a black 3A Racing seat for the passenger, which are respectively equipped with Simpson and Crow Enterprizes five-point harnesses. A fuel cell, a fire extinguisher, and the battery are mounted in the bed over a Rugged Liner bedliner. Roll-cage bracing is routed through the plexiglass rear window and anchored in the bed near the wheel-wheel protrusions. The master cylinder was flushed and the brakes bled in 2019. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. Ten-hole 15″ aluminum wheels are mounted with 225/60 Nankang Cross Sport SP-9 tires showing 20 date codes. A June 1999 Carfax entry lists a damage report in which the truck was in an accident with another vehicle. Imperfections in the paint and the graphics are pictured up close in the gallery below. Headlights were installed in 2019, and the removed front air dam is included in the sale. Other features include body-color fender flares, a tubular rear bumper, a front bumper with overriders, windshield wipers, and taillamps. The truck is finished in red and features graphics with Tommy Archer’s name, his number 33, and sponsors including Jeep Motorsports, Stroh, Goodyear, Bilstein, Craftsman, and Rugged Liner. This road-registered Comanche race truck is now offered with spare seats and parts, a removed front air dam, recent service records, a Haynes repair manual, a Carfax report, and Connecticut registration in the seller’s name. Subsequent work included replacing the tires and the battery, refreshing the brake fluid and bleeding the system, performing an oil change and a coolant flush, and installing headlights. After being retired from racing, the truck reportedly spent time in the collection of Papa’s Jeep of New Britain, Connecticut, and it was featured on BaT in November 2013 before the seller acquired the vehicle in October 2017. Powered by a 2.5-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the truck has been modified with sponsorship graphics, a driver-side window net, a roll cage, a tubular rear bumper, racing seats and five-point harnesses, a bed-mounted fuel cell and fire extinguisher, and 15″ wheels. This 1988 Jeep Comanche pickup was modified in the late 1980s by Tommy and Bobby Archer in conjunction with the Jeep Motorsports team for use in the SCCA RaceTruck series.
